Before going to have a baby, you need to pack all the things you need for you and your baby. The ideal time for this activity is at the 34th week because the baby will be due from the 37th week. What should you pack?

Packing for the baby

Your baby needs a lot of items so don’t miss anything. Some essential items to pack include a baby blanket, diapers, bodysuits and vests, cloth wipe and car seat. These items are basic and must be available when the baby arrives.

Packing for yourself

Documents: You need a proof of identification, birth plan, insurance card, and other hospital cards.

Footwear: you need comfortable footwear after the baby comes. Slip-ons are recommended because they are comfy. You may need socks as well.

Dresses: you need loose, comfortable dresses as well. It is also better to pack an old dress because it could get stained with fluids and blood.

Snacks: you need sugar free snacks in the hospital. It helps distract you from what is going on and prevents dry mouth.

Breastfeeding pillow: take a pillow to support your back when the contractions start. You also need a breastfeeding pillow to help you ease into breastfeeding.

Sanitary pads: pack lots of sanitary pads and undergarments as well, because you will need them during your recovery process in the hospital.

Toiletries: be sure to pick up your toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrush, and soap. You can pack any other item you need daily.

Pre-bed hours can be stressful both for the kid and the parents, but with these bedtime rituals, it can get more relaxing. There’s no kid who naturally likes to go to sleep, but if you make the whole sleeping thing more chilled, everything will become healthier and better.

Turn off all electronic

All the electronic devices stimulate your kid’s attention and make it want to have with electronic things like TV, iPads, iPods etc. This can make it really hard for you to get your kid to bed as it won’t be willing to stop playing with the electronics.

Have true connect time

Sitting side by side watching TV is not a kind of connect time that we have on mind. Try quietly playing with blocks or stuffed animals on the floor together. You may also invent stories and exchange ideas.

Practice saying goodnight

Kids find it soothing to know that for everything and everyone around them is also a bedtime. Say goodnight to various things in their room and after that say goodnight to your kid as well.

If you have a child who is particularly strong-willed and stubborn, this is for you. Science says that many of the characteristics of stubbornness are also the qualities that make some leaders great.

Children are all different, and some of them are headstrong from birth. This can be very challenging. But there are things you can do to deal with your stubborn child and avoid clashing with them.

  • Acknowledge their feelings and point-of-view, even if you don’t agree with them. The child needs to learn to trust you so that they can actually listen to what you are saying.
  • Always be kind. Everyone is more likely to listen to someone who’s being kind and friendly than shouting at them. Your child is no different.
  • Keep calm and keep your voice down. This will avoid escalating the situation.
  • Don’t shout at the child, especially in front of others. Whisper, if need be. Never punish a child in public.
  • Use praise often. When your child does as you have asked, tell them they’ve done well. Everybody responds positively to praise, and children are no different. They’re likely to repeat behavior that is praised.

Working while pregnant is very difficult because pregnancy comes with its own symptoms. You have to deal with morning sickness, malaise, and stress. It is worse for women who have other children. How can you function properly at work while pregnant?

Inform your boss and coworkers

When your boss, as well as coworkers, know about your pregnancy, working will be less challenging. Whenever you can’t perform as you would normally because of the pregnancy, your boss and coworkers will understand the reason why. They won’t assume that you are lazy.

Don’t hide how you feel

Be honest with yourself, as it will help you to determine when you’re not performing well. This way, you can tell your coworkers and boss when you’re not feeling well, to give them a heads up.

Plan for bad days and good days

As an expectant working mother, you should expect to have bad days and good days. Some days, you will be lively, full of excitement and energy while other days, you’ll feel like a sack of potatoes. You may also have morning sickness and not want to move around so much.

Be safety conscious

For people who work outdoors or in extreme weather conditions, it can be dangerous for the baby. Ask your boss for a different department that offers safer working conditions.

Onion forms a big part of the recipes all over the world. It enhances taste as well as the value of the meal. During pregnancy, you can eat onion. However, just like with every other thing, taking too much of it is not ideal. It is generally safe for consumption for pregnant women.

Here are some benefits of onion:

Detoxification

The body should not contain heavy metal because it is harmful to both mother and baby. Onions have methionine and cysteine that help detoxify the body.

 Boosts Immunity

Onions contain vitamin c, and this antioxidant property helps boost immunity. It also helps the baby grow safely until it is time to be born.

Stops constipation

Onions are also rich in dietary fiber and can help regulate bowel movement. Sufferers of constipation while expecting can eat raw onion to alleviate the effects of constipation.

Blood pressure regulation

Onions contain phytonutrients that regulate blood pressure. Using an onion to cook helps keep certain pregnancy-related complications such as gestational hypertension and preeclampsia.

Fights off gestational diabetes

It also contains chromium, which helps prevent resistance of insulin and regulates blood sugar. While it is safe to eat onions during pregnancy, remember to do so in moderation as you satisfy your cravings.

Homeschooling, like many other things, has its pros and cons. Have you been considering homeschooling for your child? This article will highlight various pros and cons of homeschooling.

You can choose the curriculum and set flexible teaching times

One of the key benefits of homeschooling is the right to choose the curriculum your child goes through. You also have the advantage of choosing when the study is to take place, and for how long it does.

Safety

In Public school system, there are common cases of bullying. Bullying has devastating results, which affects the sufferer physically and emotionally. In homeschooling, the student is protected.

Rise in productivity

It is estimated that in public school system, there’s one teacher for every 20 -30 teachers. Whereas, for the homeschooling system, it is one teacher to one student. This has shown improved productivity in the students who prefer homeschooling. In fact, study shows that students who school at home perform well on standardized tests, are successful in college, and as well succeed as adult employees.

Some cons of homeschooling include:

Poor social lives

Children under the public school system get to relate with numerous students every time they are in school. This develops their social lives. On the contrary, students enrolled in homeschooling are more introverted. As a result of staying indoors for long, they have fewer people to interact with. This affects their social lives in a negative way.

It is usually expensive

Unlike public schooling system, homeschooling is usually expensive.

Hands-on parenting

Even though children are loved by their parents, being with them for 24 hours/ 7 days could be stressful. This is so because, as a parent, you need to be with them all or almost all of the time. If being around your kid all of the time will be too stressful; you may have to reconsider your decision to homeschool.

Kids grow up so fast. One minute they are playing with dolls and another, they want to go shopping without you. This fun activity doesn’t have to be a war. If you plan and prepare ahead of time, you will have more fun and bond with your teen.

Here are some tips to help:

Set a budget

Do not be carried away by clothes in the store. Work with your available budget before stepping out the door. This prepares your teen’s mind for what she can buy and what is too expensive. It also teaches her to shop with limits. If your teen chooses to buy an expensive item that is not in the budget, you can arrange for her to pay for it personally.

Prepare a wishlist

Have a plan of the type of items you want to buy. Does she need jeans, wedges, tees or even stilettos? Be sure to take inventory of the present wardrobe to help her decide on which items are more important.

Stand by your word

If you don’t want the teen to wear a particular type of dress, be sure to let her know how you feel about it. She may not like it, but you know what best for her.
