What to Pack in Your Maternity Hospital Bag

Before going to have a baby, you need to pack all the things you need for you and your baby. The ideal time for this activity is at the 34th week because the baby will be due from the 37th week. What should you pack?

Packing for the baby

Your baby needs a lot of items so don’t miss anything. Some essential items to pack include a baby blanket, diapers, bodysuits and vests, cloth wipe and car seat. These items are basic and must be available when the baby arrives.

Packing for yourself

Documents: You need a proof of identification, birth plan, insurance card, and other hospital cards.

Footwear: you need comfortable footwear after the baby comes. Slip-ons are recommended because they are comfy. You may need socks as well.

Dresses: you need loose, comfortable dresses as well. It is also better to pack an old dress because it could get stained with fluids and blood.

Snacks: you need sugar free snacks in the hospital. It helps distract you from what is going on and prevents dry mouth.

Breastfeeding pillow: take a pillow to support your back when the contractions start. You also need a breastfeeding pillow to help you ease into breastfeeding.

Sanitary pads: pack lots of sanitary pads and undergarments as well, because you will need them during your recovery process in the hospital.

Toiletries: be sure to pick up your toiletries such as toothpaste, toothbrush, and soap. You can pack any other item you need daily.
