Tips For Shopping With Your Teen

Kids grow up so fast. One minute they are playing with dolls and another, they want to go shopping without you. This fun activity doesn’t have to be a war. If you plan and prepare ahead of time, you will have more fun and bond with your teen.

Here are some tips to help:

Set a budget

Do not be carried away by clothes in the store. Work with your available budget before stepping out the door. This prepares your teen’s mind for what she can buy and what is too expensive. It also teaches her to shop with limits. If your teen chooses to buy an expensive item that is not in the budget, you can arrange for her to pay for it personally.

Prepare a wishlist

Have a plan of the type of items you want to buy. Does she need jeans, wedges, tees or even stilettos? Be sure to take inventory of the present wardrobe to help her decide on which items are more important.

Stand by your word

If you don’t want the teen to wear a particular type of dress, be sure to let her know how you feel about it. She may not like it, but you know what best for her.
