Many parents wonder if it is safe to take the baby outside, especially when they are barely a month old.

Going outside is good for both mother and baby irrespective of the age. Medically, there is no reason why a baby shouldn’t be taken outside. However, you must take some precautions to keep her healthy. Some include:

Don’t go to rowdy areas

You can go to the park where its quiet but avoid going to places that are rowdy for the first few weeks of the baby’s life. Younger babies are more susceptible to germs, and she can pick up germs from sneezes, coughs and unclean hands.

No extra layers

It may be tempting to dress the baby with extra layers. The clothes should be perfect for the weather. If the weather is too hot, a diaper is sufficient

Sun and rain protection

You need to protect your child from the elements. Use gear or hat for this purpose but don’t use sunscreen on a baby.

After your stroll in the park, wash the baby’s hand thoroughly to prevent infection from hand to mouth. After the first few months, you can expose the baby to more people.
