A soulful smile, a tight grip of small fingers on your thumb, a sweet cuddle of tiny arms and a voice that stirs satisfaction in the heart-these elements are common for a parent with a newborn in his or her home.

As a parent, it becomes imperative to care for the newborn in an immaculate way. This also involves massaging his body so that the overall bone structure becomes strong and rigid when he grows. While some parents devise their own way of doing things, others look for expert tips to massage the baby the perfect way.

Given below is a helpful technique through which you can massage your baby in a safer and effective way:

The foremost thing to do is to lay your baby on his stomach and make him stay there comfortably. Make sure that his head is turned to one side. Start massaging from his forehead towards the nape of the baby’s neck. Continue massaging each stroke from the center to the arm, each side at a time. While avoiding the spine, give soft massaging strokes from his neck towards his hips and then down the baby’s legs. Repeat the same method by laying the baby on his back.

When you have a newborn in your home, there are millions of things to be concerned about. Amongst a plethora of concerns, there are some that cause extra stress and are not worth straining on. Here are few things that need not be included in the list of stressful concerns about the newborn baby:

Touching the soft spot on baby’s head:

Despite being cautious it is not mandatory to not to touch the soft areas on the baby’s head.

Blood in the diaper:

In female babies, it is common to see a little amount of blood as uterus shed it in the first week of the mini period.

Hollow in baby’s chest:

This is basically the breastbone angling backward, not a hollow part. Hence there’s nothing to be worried about.

Hiccups:

Constant hiccupping might seem harmful but are normal and harmless.

Crying:

Crying is the only way through which babies communicate during the first few months. Though you should tend to the problem as soon as observing your baby cry, it is not a stressful concern.

Without any doubt, it remains no fact that parents face a lot of struggle in taking care of their newborns. They face the confusion of what all they should do for taking care of the little life.

Here are few tips that will help you take care of your newborn.

  1. Change Diaper When Needed: Change your baby’s diaper as and when needed since your baby may develop an infection with a dirty diaper.
  2. Massage your Baby: Gently massage every part of your baby’s body with lukewarm and nutritious oil and give a massage frequently to strengthen their bones.
  3. Feeding: Feed your baby in the most effective way in case you face problems in breastfeeding.
  4. Bathing Tips: Consider giving your baby a sponge bath only until the umbilical cord falls off, the navel and circumcision heals completely. Wrap your baby in a towel and use a soft cloth dampened in water to wipe them from the inner to the outer corner.
  5. Comforting: For comforting your baby as they cry, you must first determine the cause of their discomfort and try to solve it as early as possible. You must soothe them by gently rocking them in your lap or over your shoulder.

There’s nothing compared to the feel of liveliness you get with a newborn at home. You might observe your little one sleep better; go longer between feedings and becoming more alert day by day. Though you might feel everything is normal, there are few tips to be considered for the first 30 days of your newborn:

Get help before hand: it is advised to seek great feeding advice in the first 30 days. Moms who talk with friends and attend meetings about breast feeding tend to have healthy feeding routine

Prepare for giving attention: when your baby is hungry, you have to leave everything and feed him with care. This means that you have to be prepared to understand the urgency of feeding in the first month.

Have tools for breasts: if you feel that your breasts are engorged or have blocked ducts, you should have tools like warming pad or a flax pillow ready at disposal. You should also have a cold pack for sore breasts.

Learn the key to calm your little one: even after your hard work, your baby might need a soothing session to stay calm. Shush and swing him like a good mother!

Bbathing a newborn baby can be quite a challenging task since newborns have delicate bones and you need to be very cautious while soaking them in that warm water.

We will update you with some helpful tips for bathing a newborn baby.

  1. Sponge Bath your Newborn: Opt for a sponge bath until the umbilical cord has fallen off and the navel heals. Wrap your baby in a towel and use a water dampened soft washcloth to clean all parts of their body and clean their genital area after every diaper change.
  2. Bath Tub Bath: Use a small plastic bath tub and give your babies a bath a few times each week. Make sure not to bathe them frequently since it can dry their skin and pick the best time of the day when the baby is not hungry.
  3. Check the Water Temperature: Make sure that the water is neither too cold nor too hot and use lukewarm water to bathe the baby. This is because their skin is more sensitive than adults.
  4. Opt for Tear-Free Bath Products: Consider using mild shampoos and baby washes that are tear-free and as gentle as possible to the skin.
