Babies have soft skin, and it must be protected and cared for. The skin allows the baby to sense the things around her while protecting her from the elements. It is also a communication tool between mother and baby.

Sadly, diaper rash is a common skin problem that babies face. Don’t worry too much about it because it resolves itself within three days when steps are taken to cure it.

How to prevent diaper rash

To prevent the rash, change your baby’s diapers regularly. No matter how good the product is, it must be changed regularly to keep your baby protected at all times.

Also, a diaper with a good wetness indicator is recommended. It is soft and keeps the skin dry and protected.

How to care for diaper rash

  • Change the soil diapers to reduce skin moisture.
  • Use a clean cloth and water to wipe the diaper area.
  • Pat the skin dry instead of rubbing.
  • Let the area air dry.

Protect the skin from further rashes by applying a layer of cream or protective ointment that contains petroleum or zinc oxide. Also, keep the skin dry with a good diaper that reduces wetness and ensures that they are not too tight.

You should see a doctor where the rash is severe or when it bleeds or forms blisters. It would help if you also did so when the rash is unusual and does not heal despite your efforts.
