Homemade baby food is healthier and tastier than store-bought varieties. It is also quite easy to make. Here are some tips to follow:

Get the basic items

You need a food processor or blender, ice cube trays and a chopping knife. If you have them, it will ease the process.

Ensure the food items are clean

Babies have a weaker immune system, so it is better to wash veggies and fruits before cooking. Keep the preparation area clean and store food properly.

Share Food

If you plan to eat sweet potatoes, prepare some for your baby. However, you shouldn’t add seasoning to the food. Only serve it lukewarm to prevent mouth burns. Some foods are not suitable for babies. Stick to the basics: beets, spinach, turnips, collard greens, and carrots.

Don’t rush

Introduce one food each time and wait for up to three days to introduce another. This helps you check for allergic reactions to the food.

Some tasty homemade baby foods ideas include:

  • Pears and apples: peel, core and steam or bake. Blend until smooth.
  • Green banana: peel an avocado and ripe banana. Blend until smooth.

If the baby does not like solid food, don’t force it. Breastmilk and formula contain all the nutrients he needs for the first year. Just try to make it an interesting experience.
