During pregnancy, difficulty sleeping is quite common. This is because it gets uncomfortable in the 1st and 3rd trimesters. You can get a good night’s sleep if you follow these tips:

Use pillows

Using pillows can come in handy when you feel restless. Use it for belly and back support. Tuck in the pillow between the bent knees to support the lower back. The side sleeping position is recommended for pregnant women. Tucking the pillow behind the back helps maintain this position all through the night.

An extra pillow can also soothe heartburn. Try an extra pillow to push up your head as you sleep. Many expectant mothers feel relieved when they raise the head of the bed. You can do this by sliding pillows under the mattress head.

Pillows for hip relief

Use an egg crate mattress pad on your mattress for hip relief. It helps promote a better quality of sleep especially when your hips hurt when you rest on your side.

What you should eat

What you eat and when you consume the food can affect sleep quality. So it would help if you were careful about this. Taking a warm glass of milk before bed can help aid sleep. Lots of experts believe that the amino acid L-tryptophan makes the eyelids heavy when it increases the level of serotonin in the brain.
