While some parents devise their own way of doing things, others look for expert tips to massage the baby the perfect way.
Given below is a helpful technique through which you can massage your baby in a safer and effective way:
The foremost thing to do is to lay your baby on his stomach and make him stay there comfortably. Make sure that his head is turned to one side. Start massaging from his forehead towards the nape of the baby’s neck. Continue massaging each stroke from the center to the arm, each side at a time. While avoiding the spine, give soft massaging strokes from his neck towards his hips and then down the baby’s legs. Repeat the same method by laying the baby on his back.

]]>Always be precise and consistent about what you expect while the child waits. When waiting to cross a road, tell the child to stand away from the edge, look both ways twice before crossing, or look for the road crossing sign.
When your child has to wait, engage with them in a way that makes waiting for a game.
Don’t bribe the child for waiting or they’ll always expect a reward for ordinary behavior. Rather make what comes after the wait a reward in itself, such as play-time.

]]>Kids can suck their thumb without damaging the teeth or jaw alignment. It only becomes a problem when the permanent teeth start to develop.
When this happens, the child may need braces later in life. This does not apply to kids that suck their thumb passively.
If the child sucks vigorously, you should arrange to curb the habit as soon as possible. Consult a dentist if you notice changes in the child’s mouth and you are not sure about what is responsible for the problem.
Also, if the thumb of the infant becomes chapped and red from sucking apply some moisturizer at night.
Many kids stop sucking their thumbs without any pressure by 2 to 4 years old. Others may continue for longer. Peer pressure in school also deters this habit. Nagging and punishing will not help but will intensify the desire to suck more. Do not resort to using unjust punishment to hasten the process.
Thumb sucking is more common when a child is bored. Identify the triggers and distract it with a fun activity.

]]>One of the biggest milestones we wait for our babies to achieve is walking. But what happens when babies younger than yours are not only walking, they’re running, and yours is yet to get off the mark?
Immediately, panic sets in that something must be ‘wrong’, and that your child is never going to catch up with others in their age cohort.
By now, your mind is 18 years into the future already, worrying about high school graduation! But before you get there, let’s look at the statistics:
Whilst the majority of children take their first steps from 9-12 months and are walking well by 14-15 months, it is normal for a child to only take their first steps at 16-17 months.
It is only if your child shows no inclination to walk by 18 months that you should be concerned and approach your doctor.
Here are some ideas to stimulate your ‘lazy walker’:
Stand behind them, hold their hands and let them practice balancing and walking.
Make it a game. Give plenty of praise.
