Things Your Pediatrician is Not Aware of

Your pediatrician may be your kid’s close friend but is definitely likely to miss out on some things about your kid. Here are a few of such issues that he may miss and you should be aware of.

Vision problems

As a parent, you are more likely to detect vision problems earlier than your kids’ pediatrician. Such signs include eye rubbing and extreme light sensitivity. The pediatrician will only detect eye problems when it gets to the poor vision stage of the redness of the eye.

Sweating Problems

Excessive sweating among kids is quite normal more so for the very jumpy kids.  Excessive sweating may, however, be a symptom for some diseases. It is expected that your pediatrician may miss out to know whether your kids sweating is normal because he does not spend substantial time with them.

Abnormal picky-eating

This is the behavior where your kid will like one food at one time and hate it the other. A recent study shows that this behavior may be an indicator of a feeding disorder.

Behavioral problems

For instance, does your kid become agitated fast? Do they like to stay alone? It is only after you point out these issues to your pediatrician that he can begin monitoring your child for behavioral issues.

Trauma

This is particularly hard for your pediatrician to detect because of the short time the appointments usually last.  The pediatrician doesn’t simply have the luxury of time to go deeper.
