Reduce speed

Car tires do not have adequate traction on snow. This is why you should reduce speed. Also, you should be smooth with your pedal and steering inputs. Drive carefully.

Do one thing at a time

Don’t brake and turn simultaneously. This puts too much pressure on one tire. It could lose traction. Rather, brake, turn and accelerate. Keep your eyes on the target at all times.

Some other tips for driving in the snow include:

  • Keep a scraper with a brush in the car
  • Make sure the windshield washers function well.

Car seats are essential to keep your baby fastened to the seat. However, some steps must be taken to ensure that this device is safe for kids.  Here are some safety tips to remember:

Comfort

Dress your baby comfortably since the harness strap will go between its legs. This clothing should allow the strap to pass through comfortably.

Place the car seat at a 45º angle

You baby may slide out of the straps if the car seat is too flat. If it is too upright, the baby’s head may go forward too much and disrupt his breathing. Use the indicators or adjustors on rear-facing seats to ensure that it is properly placed.

Ensure that the baby’s head is secure

After setting the seat at the right angle, you still need to check the baby’s position to ensure that the head is not flopping around. Some seats come with inserts to cushion the baby’s head or pads. Don’t use makeshift pads for this purpose as it could be unsafe for the baby.

If the baby slouches, use rolled up blankets

Let them know you love them and will support them

 Aside from telling your teens that you love them, there are ways to show it to them. Examples of this can be showing interest in your teens’ hobby, showing interest in their friends, being interested in what they are doing and going through, giving them listening ear etc.

Their needs should be respected

 Even though your teens aren’t adults yet, this does not mean they should not be respected. You can respect their needs by granting them freedom of speech, by asking for their perception of crucial family matters and by listening to their opinions on matters generally.

Giving privacy (but setting boundaries)

At a certain stage of your teens’ lives, they will begin to feel the need to have their own space. This is natural, however, appropriate precautions should be taken. At this stage, it will be important to set certain rules, which serves as boundaries for your teens while they enjoy their privacy.

Examples of such rules can be permitting your teens to drive when they obtain their driver’s license. However, stating that things such as speaking on the phone, texting or driving under the influence of alcohol are unacceptable.

Know that they are no longer children
