How to Cope With Kids During Winter Break

Kids get a lot of vacations, especially during the festive season. This is great for kids, but not for parents who have to redraw their plans and struggle with work and the kids. Here are some strategies that may help:

Plan for daycare

If you can’t be home with the kids and your friend or colleague will be, consider leaving the child with them. If you both have kids, you can switch and return the favor on your day off. During holidays, community agencies and other bodies often offer day care services. If your child has no problem with this arrangement, you can try it out too.

Get a babysitter

During this period, college students may be home from school. They will be happy to earn some cash before resumption. You can hire them to stay with the kids while you’re at work.

Rotate childcare

You can form a group of parents and rotate childcare during this time. One pair of parents can stay with the kids while the others attend to work. But if you have a relative or friend who is available to help on such occasions, then you can let them help. This is often the best option because it is the most affordable and also the safest for the children.
