It’s really tempting to keep your child protected all the time and make a safe place for it where nothing bad can happen. But, as tempting as it sounds this method is not good for your child as it will make it unable to cope with real life problems once it grows up.

There are kids who are very anxious and who trouble their mind with worst case scenarios all the time. In order to help the anxious kid when something bad happens, this is what you need to do.

Awareness

Be careful about what your child sees on TV, don’t let your kids watch the news until their old enough to understand and become aware of global events.

Anxious children have detailed memories, especially for images and if they see something bad on TV, maybe they’ll only get scared as they’re unable to understand the whole context.

Highlight the good in humankind

If a tragedy occurs, focus on the random acts of kindness as it will make the outer world seem secure for your frightened child.

Channel anxiety into positive action

Anxious children often have strong empathy, so if you let them give a helping hand during a crisis it will build–up their self–esteem and faith in the happy ending.
