As a parent, one thing that you have been taught and know is that kids like to imitate their parents. You are taught to avoid showing anger despite all the stress and worries in your head. This is a bit tough but surely doable.

When you’re angry, it can many times result in yelling at your kids and being impatient with them. That can make them have behavior issues or even uncontrollable anxiety.

However, yelling is not all too bad. It is in fact beneficial where your kid is running on the street and you want them to stop immediately.

Adjust your expectations

It is okay to expect your kid to behave in a certain way. When these expectations are often not met, then it is time to adjust them to avoid getting frustrated.

Engage in positive talk

Anger often builds up when your mind is engaged in negative thoughts. Tame your mind to think on the positive and have positive expectations to avoid frustration which builds up to anger.

Understand your hot spots

Take time to learn what triggers you and how you feel when angry so you can control it. The common symptoms of anger are clenched jaw, rapid breathing, chest constriction, and feeling overwhelmed.

We all want well-behaved children. While no child is perfect, certain behaviors should be expected, such as good manners, respect, tidiness, and personal hygiene. Here are a few ideas on how to raise a well-behaved child.

Be an example

You can’t expect children to behave well if you don’t. If you model bad manners or untidiness, you can expect them in your kids. Be the example they follow.

Establish rules and set limits

Establish rules for your house from early on. Be clear and consistent about what you expect. Repeat the house rules regularly.

Use praise

Children often hear ‘no’ all the time so that most of what they are told is negative. Turn that around by praising them for positive behavior.

Establish consequences

Your children are bound to break the rules sometimes, so you should set logical consequences. If your son leaves his toy in the middle of the driveway, don’t allow him access to the toy for a day or two.
