While we all might be jumping for joy about more hours of daylight and less of dreary winter skies, babies everywhere are about to go through a bigger change than we might realize.

Sleep schedules are already a new and challenging task when it comes to your baby, but adding in an extra hour or two of daylight can cause a baby to become restless and even irritable.

Helping Baby Ease Into A Summer Schedule

Helping your little one adjust to a new sleep schedule can be tricky, but starting them out before the actual time change can make a big difference.

Spend the Saturday prior allowing them to go nuts. Take them to the park or a museum. Letting them run around or be on the move all day can release the energy necessary to send them to sleep earlier on Saturday so they sleep through the time change.

Wake Them Up With Natural Light

Letting natural light flow into your baby’s room in the morning can be an effective tool in adjusting their sleep schedule. The light can shift the internal clock so your baby begins to wake up with the new morning hours.

Most Importantly, Be Patient

We’ve all been in a situation in which we assume going to bed early on one occasion will change our pattern overnight, but it’s almost always proven the opposite. Your baby will take to the new schedule when you allow them time and space to do so.
